Repin Aja-Relief Pintar Aksara Jawa
Overview
Contributed to the development of REPIN AJA (Relief Pintar Aksara Jawa), an inclusive educational learning media designed to help visually impaired students learn Javanese script through tactile relief characters, Braille, and audio-based interactions. Responsible for project planning, educational content development, implementation, user training, and program evaluation to enhance Javanese script literacy while supporting inclusive education and cultural preservation.
The Challenge
Visually impaired students have limited access to learning media for Javanese script, as conventional teaching materials rely heavily on visual instruction. This creates barriers to understanding and reduces opportunities to engage with local cultural education.
The Solution
Developed a multisensory learning medium that integrates embossed Javanese characters, Braille labels, and Arduino-powered audio guidance. The interactive design enables students to explore Javanese script independently through touch and sound, making the learning experience more accessible and engaging.
Results
92% of teachers at SLBA Yaketunis are able to teach Javanese script effectively using the Repin Aja media
88% of students are able to master all materials from level 1 to 6
Increased student interest in learning Javanese language
